Roper Hospital Emergency Power Infrastructure Upgrades
CSG was contracted Roper St. Francis Hospital to perform the construction services for the installation of a new permanent 2,000 kVA Generators project located at Roper Hospital, in
Charleston, SC, which was a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Grant project. The scope of work consisted of an auger-cast pile foundation for the construction of a three-
level, structural steel framed, 13,450 square foot building addition, expanding the existing physical plant. The building was designed and constructed for future expansion of a chiller and
cooling tower, which CSG ended up performing for Roper Hospital, as well. Finally, a 500 gallon fuel tank was installed to increase the capacity of Roper Hospital’s emergency generator
systems.

Roper Hospital Rooftop Chiller Retrofit
Roper Hospital contracted CSG to perform architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work under a FEMA Grant. The project included the installation of a 1,000 ton
chiller, a cooling tower, and the associated pumping, piping, and controls in the existing generator building adjacent to the physical plant, located above the design flood elevation. New chilled water equipment and piped were connected into the existing chilled water system, increasing redundancy and ensuring an uninterrupted supply of chilled water and air to the hospital. The work required coordination, as the jobsite was an occupied, fully functioning hospital throughout the duration of the project.
